Soak up Summer with De Krans Free-Run Chenin Blanc 2018

Regarded as one of SA’s leading port producers De Krans Wine Cellar, situated in Calitzdorp, has also built a reputation for producing a range of unique and superb wines from classical varieties. With the emphasis on unique yet traditional, consumers will enjoy the new vintage unwooded De Krans Free-Run Chenin Blanc 2018 – perfect enjoyment for the long Summer days!

What makes De Krans Free-Run Chenin Blanc stand out from traditional Chenin Blanc is that only free run juice – only approximately two-thirds of the total juice can be used to make the wine, which results in a fresh, well-rounded product. This 2018 vintage has already won a Gold Wine Award in the first competition entered. Winemaker Louis van der Riet describes the wine as showing a tropical freshness on the nose. An abundance of soft fresh tropical fruits, a well-rounded smooth structure and a lingering aftertaste, are prominent on the palate. Perfect on its own during a hot Sunday braai or enjoy with fresh snoek, barbeque chicken, or pastas and salads. Available directly from the farm, or selected specialist wine outlets nationwide at R60 per bottle.

For many years Chenin Blanc played second fiddle to Sauvignon Blanc, but in recent years, the varietal (also the De Krans Free-Run Chenin Blanc) has seen phenomenal growth in the South African wine industry. This is partly due to its versatility as a wine to enjoy with a vast range of food dishes, as well as the fact that it can be enjoyed on its own.
