For the 3rd year in a row the De Krans Pinotage Rosé has been awarded the prestigious Double Gold medal at the 2020 Rosé Rocks competition. This year the award was bestowed on the 2020 vintage. This competition is the first of its kind in SA which is entirely dedicated to Rosé and seeks to not only acknowledge excellence in Rosé winemaking but also to in effect, promote the category in SA. The competition was chaired by leading industry influencer, Allan Mullins, who was joined on the judging panel by five other leading industry role players. It’s the height of the competition season for the wine industry, and De Krans Wines in Calitzdorp is no stranger to bringing home sought after accolades. Confirmation that they are still regarded as South Africa’s leading producer of port-style wines. In July the De Krans Cape Vintage Reserve 2017 was named as one of the Top 100 SA Wines for 2020, and more recently was awarded the Tony Mossop Trophy for the Best Cape Port at this year’s Old Mutual Trophy Wine Show.
